Paul Roth [1907-1984] was a British film mogul, studio owner, director, producer and noted film historian and critic. He directed the documentaries The World Is Rich [1947] and Cradle Of Genius [1961] both of which were nominated for an Academy Award.
His book The Film Till Now: A Survey Of World Cinema was first published in 1930 and revised in 1949.

Lewis Jacobs [1905-1997] was a writer, film maker and teacher of cinematic art who wrote The Rise Of The American Film: A Critical Study first published in 1939.

Leo C.Rosten [1908-1997] was a teacher, academic and humorist. As a screenwriter he wrote the story for 'The Dark Hour' [1946], a film noir classic starring Mark Stevens, Lucille Ball, William Bendix and Clifton Webb.
His book Hollywood The Movie Colony The Movie Makers was first published in 1941.
