His father was a successful inventor and his mother was a beautiful and talented concert pianist. His most famous work as a film director was 'Citizen Kane' in 1941, though a commercial failure it is considered by many film critics the greatest movie ever made. 'The Stranger' was made in 1946 for International Pictures. ________________________ War crimes Commissioner Wilson, travels to a small Connecticut town in an attempt to locate and arrest a Nazi war criminal who is thought to be living under an alias in this sleepy backwater hamlet. Posing as an antiques dealer Wilson tries to force his quarry into the open using his new found family and friends as leverage! Nominated for an Academy Award in 1947

Pichel was originally a character villian in early pre-coded talkies until he moved over to film directing for Twentieth Century-Fox. He died suddenly in 1954, only one week after completing his last film 'Day Of Triumph'. _________________________ This movie is set in 1940 before America enters World War 2. A retired Colonel returns home to a small Southern town in Georgia only to discover that the local council plan to demolish the historic council chambers. And so begins his campaign to save the building from destruction and expose a corrupt town mayor!

Just a week before the film went on general release he comitted suicide at the age of 50. ______________________ Jonathan Adams is an artist from Masschusetts who is working at a remote army settlement on assignment. Here, he has a relationship with the storekeeper's daughter, his fiance Cynthia and the daughter of the local indian chief. But, when a vengeful settler incites the indians to attack the settlement his problems really begin.
